Reading week: Reflect
In this post I am going to be reflecting on module 1 and the first time of university. It was an extremely challenging four months. New home, new city, new people and a new course. All of this change can be extremely difficult to balance all at the same time when first starting university.
Reflecting on my first term at Nottingham Trent, it was the most exciting yet scary experience ever!
Focusing more importantly on FCP and module 1. When I first started the course I was extremely worried that I would be the odd one out, not knowing anything coming onto a fashion course. I came to university straight from sixth form, so never had the chance to learn or take part in a foundation year. The first two weeks were the worst. I felt lost and out of it in comparison to everyone else!
After settling into the course after a couple of weeks, things got a bit better! In regards to the module itself I found myself really struggling with it at first. Once I got into the swing of things and worked with as a team, completing the FCP process as part of a team, I started to feel much more comfortable. Working as part of a team, originally I thought I was going to hate. Whilst studying at secondary school I always hated working as part of a team, but when starting FCP it made me realise how much I actually do enjoy being part of a team.
One of the main things I really struggled with using was InDesign. I believe this was because I had never used the programme before and there is so much to learn on one programme. After sitting for hours watching YouTube videos, listening and teaching myself how to use InDesign I sort of got the hang of it.
Once the team work was over, and the summative report started, it made me realise how much I liked team work! Looking back to module 1, I have realised that for future modules I need to work on my time management!
