First year - complete!

I thought it would be a good idea to write a blog post summarising and talking about my first year at Nottingham Trent, as we are approaching the end of first year! When first joining in September I had so many different thoughts and emotions running through my head, I didn't know what to think first. 9 months later... and let me say the quickest 9 months of my life. There has been many ups, and many downs and has been a lot more challenging than expected!

I feel as a person, since September 2018, I have really grown massively. I feel as if I have built confidence within myself, independence and really matured just from living away from home.

FCP: I feel as if it is important to talk about the course I decided to take. Before joining university, Fashion communication and Promotion was the dream course for over a year! When applying to university, no other course compared to this one. When starting it in September I began the course finding it really difficult and challenging and genuinely did not feel as if I was connecting with the course they way that I imagined I would. I didn't have much experience with fashion beforehand which is why I feel like I may not have connected with the course as well as others around me.

I decided not to make any decisions and I knew that I needed to give myself time to settle and for the course to properly kick in. Second term approached and the new module made me feel a lot better about the course. Eventually after working a little harder and realising that I just needed to give it a chance, I now love the course that I have chosen and am so happy I feel the same way I did when applying for it! The course may be a challenge, but who doesn't love a good challenge?!

Being at uni, living in halls, living with friends, having so much freedom and independence has given me one of the best years of my life. I wouldn't change anything about my first year experiences at Trent and cannot wait to start second year! I am quite excited to be moving into a house with 4 of my bestest friends instead of living in uni halls! One of the main highlights of my year, has deffintly got to be playing pranks at 3 in the morning on our neighbours who also happen to be my closest group of friends. From bin bag piles, to ketchup wars, water fights and salt in our beds. The laughs and memories that have been created from first year will be something that I will never ever be able to forget!

Hannah :)
