The Met Gala 2019
The Met Gala is typically known as one of the biggest and most anticipated fashion events on our calendars! Since 1995 the event has been chaired by US vogue editor and chief Anna Wintour. Individuals such as Beyoncé, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift have previously hosted the Met Gala. Each year the gala has a different theme. The theme for this years gala was "CAMP". My first initial thought on theme was that it was a great idea and that it is a great way for people to express themselves and dress differently. This could be dressing like a drag queen, sun kings, wearing big objects, fine art, 'being extra' and so on.
Zendaya: Showed up to the Met Gala as Cinderella and was wearing. To me this is CAMP! I think that her dress was incredible and was extremely outside of the box! She literally brought a hint of magic to the met gala. Her dress was Tommy Hilfiger and the dress lit up.
Kylie and Kendall Jenner: When I first saw Kendall and Kylie I was speechless. They came together coordinating in bright feathered dresses. Kendall's orange dress was inspired by Cher, whilst Kylies was a purple feathered Versace dress with a matching purple wig. Together they look absolutely unbelievable! I wasn't too sure if the dresses that they were wearing really matched the 'camp' theme, however they were quite extra and different.
Kendall posted an Instagram comparing her and her sister to a photo of the evil stepsisters from Cinderella!
Harry Styles: Harry rocked up wearing an all black lace Gucci blouse and tailored trousers. Harry was certainly one of the best dressed men. I feel like Harry went in the opposite direction to what people expected him to being wearing. For example, I expected him to turn up wearing something very bright, maybe with some sequins, however he went in the 'Classy camp' look instead.
Naomi Campbell: I loved Naomi's look and dress. I thought the pink Valentino dress that was embellished with feathers and sequins was stunning. She finished the outfit off with lace tights and pink strappy heels. I thought the outfit itself was extremely classy and elegant.
Hailey Bieber: This was by far my number one favourite look. Hailey wore an Alexander Wang baby pink, long, low back, sequin thong gown. The dress gave me 'modern day Barbie vibes'. The dress from the front is extremely elegant and makes people thing she played it safe. The minute I saw the back of the dress my opinion changed. As well as the dress being so beautiful, her hair and makeup was stunning, looking classic and elegant. Her hair was in a simple high pony tail tied with a black bow with slight curls on the end of the pony tail.
My least favourite looks!
Cardi B: I was not a fan of Cardi B's look. First of all it did not suit the theme! The material of the ball gown looked as if she was wearing a table cloth! I felt as it was too extreme and looked like a giant red duvet. The Moschino dress was certainly extra and different, however not so camp!
