Collaboration: the
action of working with someone to produce something.
The importance of collaboration?
Collaboration is extremely important, especially when working within a team. In many industries, including the fashion industry team work is key. Having multiple creative minds coming together, brainstorming and thinking of new ideas and perspectives, is what allows companies and brands to come up with new collaborations and creative ideas. Collaboration also makes people within the team more responsibility, raises motivation levels and makes work much easier and quicker for everyone!
Collaboration allows a group of people to come together to achieve a goal that they all want to achieve. This includes brainstorming, providing value and equal partaking. All three of these things gives each individual to have equal opportunities and to communicate their ideas equally.
When two brands come and
work together with the aims and objectives to launch a product or clothing line
it is called a brand collaboration. Often the objective of a brand
collaboration is to be able to share and offer experience and expertise from
both brands and put both sets of skills to create a great idea and outcome.
This will then give both brands an advantage within the industry.
One extremely successful brand collaboration is Spotify and Uber. They are both two extremely successful and popular brands that have come together to create peaceful rides for their customers. They launched a 'new and improved rider music experience'. Customers are now able to customize their ride in two different ways. They can use Pandora and Spotify premium to play music from the Uber app.
1. Pandora allows customers to listen to their favourite stations for free. All customers have to do is create an account. If they choose to use Spotify, they can play they're own on demand library or pick any playlist for their Uber journey.
Moschino x H&M
These two brands are another great example of a popular collaboration. Moschino a high end brand, selling expensive products decided to collaborate with high street store H&M, to create a collection in which is reasonably priced, allowing both sets of customers to come together and purchase the collaboration.
This collaboration is reasonably new, announced in April and released in stores just a few months back. There was a runway in New York featuring Candice Swanepoel, all of the Hadid sisters and Naomi Campbell.
This is a great example of a fashion collaboration, that is extremely popular and will help both brands to gain more customers and income.
I personally didn't like this collaboration that much. This was because I found that the majority of products within the collaboration had Disney characters on. I am not the biggest fan of the designs chosen for the products however, I feel as if there are many advantages to this collaboration and understand why it was extremely popular. People enjoy both the brands and products are being sold at reasonable prices.
